A human rights campaigner, he has also served as a UN Iraq-Humanitarian Coordinator. Previously, he was Singapore-UN Deputy Resident Development Programme. A holder of the Gandhi International Peace Award, he is a patron of the sallinsinquirynow campaign.

Seventh President of Ireland, Mary Robinson, is a life-long human rights campaigner. She served as UN High Commissioner for Human Rights. A lawyer and opponent of the juryless Special Criminal Court which convicted the Sallins men, she claimed it was a sentencing tribunal. She supports a Sallins public inquiry.
