Iar-Uachtarán na hÉireann, Michael D Higgins, recently retired, backs Sallins inquiry.
The ex-President offered his best wishes to the sold out Sallins Inquiry Now benefit gig in Vicars Street on March 29th. The event marked the 50th annivarsay of Sallins Case where wrongly arrested citizens were detained, tortured and framed for the sallins train robbery.
Three of the Sallins Men, Osgur Breatnach, Michael Barrett, Nicky Kelly and family members of Brian McNally were present to hear the ex-President’s message.
‘I am delighted to hear of the exceptional line-up assembled for tonight which includes a set of commentators with whom I’ve shared a great deal of campaigning. “Tá sé tábhachtach an brú a choinneáil ar an Rialtas” meaning, “it is important to keep-up the pressure on the Government to bring about the much needed Inquiry.”
For my part, I will do my best.’
