DPP DOES NOT OPPOSE BREATNACH MISCARRIAGE OF JUSTICE APPLICATION

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has finaly (June 3rd) responded to Breatnach’s historic Miscarriage of Justice Application.

Stating it does not oppose the application for an order (under s.9 of the 1993 Act) they have also accepted that Breatnach ‘had no hand, act or part whatsoever in the Sallins Train Robbery.’

The Court of Appeal will decide on Breatnach’s application this July 21st. If successful, Breatnach’s case under the Criminal Justice act, will then be referred to the Justice Minister for compensation.

Breatnach responded to the news by stating that the campaign’s central demand is for an independent public inquiry as per the UN and European Convention of Human Rights.
